The calendula has been blooming here in Northern California. Calendula plants are cultivated throughout the U.S. and Europe and are originally native to the Mediterranean. They are beautifully self-seeding annual golden blooms. The flowers are edible and make beautiful garnishes for food and salads or add a golden color to butter and cheese.
We dry and crush calendula flowers before infusing them into the Honey Mask. High in vitamins A, C, E, carotenoids, carotene, and beneficial polysaccharides, we prize calendula for its vulnerary (healing), antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, emollient (softens), and astringent (tightens tissue) properties. Calendula is said to hasten wound healing and stimulate the growth of new health tissue on the dermis. It is a successful aid for many skin conditions making it ideal for a face mask combined with honey, coconut, vitamin e and our other crushed garden florals. A slather envelopes your senses in an invigorating olfactory journey that plumps, tones, and brings on that summery dewy glow.
