Did you know when we hand pour our lip balms and botanical perfumes into colorful little seashells and that these are first a source of food for coastal populations?
While it might be wild to think about, we are repurposing a naturally created container into a beautiful vessel for balm, hence giving it another life. That means that no new materials are extracted from the Earth to create a container. Since nature herself artfully creates the shells, no two are exactly alike. By using something already available these are highly sustainable. Being a source of food, we never know exactly which styles of shells will be available. There are natural fluctuations like the time of year, and harvests. Therefore, they are always limited edition.
When we started pouring into shell-housed styles in 2014 we were inspired by the zero trash nature of seashells. They are, of course, compostable. Further, who would want to throw them away? We love utilizing a material already circulating, and wish there were more options like these for everyday essentials. Everything would benefit from a second life!
And pssst beautiful new balm is in the works for 2023 that will also call a seashell its home!
